Visitor Visa (subclass 600)
Subclass 600 visitor visa is a temporary visa and have multiple streams. Purpose of the visa is to allowed the holder to enter Australia for holiday, visit family or business visit for business stream, as a temporary entrant and depart before the expiry date.
Tourist stream
Main purpose is to visit an Australian citizen, or Australian permanent resident, who is a parent, spouse, de facto partner, child, brother or sister of the applicant and for other non-business and non-medical treatment activity.
Requirement
- May be in or outside to lodge visa.
- For holiday and recreational purposes or to visit Australian family member.
- Not for medical treatment or business
- Have adequate funds or have access to adequate fund to support himself/herself during stay.
- Maximum 12 stay unless exceptional circumstances exist.
Documents required
- A statutory declaration specifies the reason for visit.
- Specify the tourist activity planned
- Medical report if visiting sick family member.
- Return ticket
- Funds or access to funds.
- Statutory Declaration or letter from Australian family member, if visiting them.
- Evidence of previous travel.
- Bank statement/payslips
Family sponsored stream
Main purpose is to visit an Australian citizen, or Australian permanent resident, who is a parent, spouse, de facto partner, child, brother or sister of the applicant or other non-business and non-medical treatment activity.
Requirement
- Must be sponsored by settle Australian citizen or PR who is relative of the applicant or relative of the MOFU or relative of another applicant to whom the applicant is MOFU. Commonwealth Parliament, a State Parliament or other commonwealth officials who are at least 18 and settled can sponsor the applicant as well. Commonwealth agency or state or territory agencies can also sponsor.
- Security bond has been lodged if requested by minister.
Business visitor Stream
- Applicant intends to visit Australia to engage in a business visitor activity.
- The applicant does not intend to engage in activities that will have adverse consequences for employment or training opportunities, or conditions of employment, for Australian citizens or Australian permanent residents.
Approved Destination Status stream
- Only for citizen of PRC of specific region.
- Only for approved agents
- Only for approved destinations.
- Intends to travel to Australia for the purpose of sightseeing and related activities.
Frequent Traveller stream
- Intends to visit Australia as tourist or to engage in business activity.
- Do not have adverse consequences for employment or training opportunities, or conditions of employment, for Australian citizens or PR.
Time of grant
If lodge onshore, then must be onshore and for offshore applications must be offshore. For approved destination stream applicant must be in PRC region.
Validity period
Depends upon the minister and stream. Frequent flyer can be granted maximum period of 10 years with 3-month maximum stay on each entry.
For tourist stream the validity can be 3, 6, 12 months. According to policy the visa can be granted up to maximum 5 years. Normally for parents of Australian citizen, PR are granted visa up to 12 – 3 years. Maximum stay is 12 months on each arrival. However, for most of the
visa, the stay period is maximum 3month.
Conditions: 8503 is mandatory for family sponsored stream. Other conditions may attached and depends upon the stream.
